Hello BIH Participants and my Fellow NHA and BIH staff,
I am Alexandra Henley (Alex for short). As of August 15, 2022, I began working as the Community Outreach Liaison for NHA’s BIH program. I have a B.A. in Liberal Arts with a minor in Social Work. I have over 25 years of general experience working with the low-income and disadvantaged population, including in Southeast San Diego. I grew up in Southeast San Diego and can relate to the issues facing such an area and most of my volunteer and paid work experience has been in the area. I am happy to continue to give back to the community with my new liaison work. Another thing that sparked my interest to apply for this position and become part of BIH was the alarming negative birth outcomes for black and African American infants and babies. I simply wanted to be of use to help get those numbers down and hopefully eliminated.
