From mastering AI to her “no-guilt” policy on saying no, get into her full Q&A to see how she’s keeping God at the center and staying intentional this year.
Who are you – Where are you from? How many kids do you have? What do you like to do (hobbies/leisurely activities)?
I am a woman of faith, a yoga and sound bath facilitator, a devoted wife, and a proud mother of two beautiful boys, one who is 8 years old and another who is 5 months old. In my free time, I enjoy being outdoors with my family and good friends, hiking, practicing and teaching yoga, cooking, or spending time at the beach whenever possible. I also cherish going to amusement parks, have movie nights and game nights with my son, which allow us to connect and create meaningful memories.
Why did you join BIH, what you have gained or enjoy about being in the program?
I joined Black Infant Health because I desired a sense of community; a village of Black women who not only look like me but are also navigating the same stage of motherhood. Having relocated from the East Coast and without immediate family here in San Diego, it was important for me to find a supportive, like-minded group where shared experiences could be honored and understood.
Through this program, I have gained meaningful connection, emotional support, access to culturally responsive education and resources that empower Black mothers to advocate for themselves and their babies. I truly enjoy gathering with these beautiful and amazing women as well as the incredible facilitators who have created a safe and nurturing space for us to open up, be ourselves and have honest conversations. The program consistently reminds me that I am not alone on this journey and I can honestly say that I absolutely love being a part of it.
What are your intentions for the new year?
My intention for the new year is to deepen my practice of self-care and self-compassion. I am committed to continuing my personal growth not only as an individual, but also as a wife, mother, friend, and entrepreneur. Additionally, I plan to further expand my professional skill set by completing an AI certificate program.
What brings you peace? What are some things you do to maintain peace of mind?
What brings me peace is keeping God at the center of my life and surrounding myself with positive, uplifting people who encourage growth and mutual support. To maintain my peace of mind, I am committed to setting healthy boundaries, releasing relationships that no longer align with my well-being, and learning to say no with clarity and confidence without guilt or explanation.
