Walter Lam

Board Member

A native of Northern Uganda, Walter Lam founded the Alliance for African Assistance in 1989, with the purpose of helping fellow refugees from Africa. Today, the Alliance serves thousands of refugees from all over the world and, in 2007, launched the Alliance Health Clinic, a non-profit community health center dedicated to the well-being of refugees and other under-served residents of Central San Diego. Mr. Lam is currently a member of the City of San Diego International Affairs Board of Directors, the Board of Directors of the New Americans Museum, the California Multicultural Health board, the United Way Impact Committee, the San Diego Workforce Investment Board and the Federal Housing Workgroup. He has been recognized for his service to the community by many local organizations. Mr. Lam sits on the Affordable Housing Ad Hoc Committee, Nominating & Bylaws Committee and Programs Committee. He is also the policy council representative for NHA’s board of directors.
