NHA Helps Future Homeowners Achieve Their Dream

The Neighborhood House Association (NHA) will be giving a first-time homebuyer the opportunity to realize their dream of owning a home. The NHA Board of Directors launched an innovative initiative through a pilot affordable housing project to acquire a property and renovate it for a qualified family. The pilot project involved the purchase of only one property and is intended to assist first-time homebuyers in acquiring their first home, enhance the community and create further awareness of NHA and its impact on the community. The property, located in the Oak Park community of San Diego, was acquired by NHA in December and was completely renovated with various modern amenities.

"The goal of the Affordable Housing Project is to support first-time homebuyers while enhancing our mission of building strong families and strong communities," said NHA President and CEO Rudolph A. Johnson, III. "This pilot initiative reflects our commitment to families and our intent to support the positive development of our communities."

NHA plans to give first opportunity for purchasing the newly-renovated two-bedroom, one bath home to San Diego residents who have participated in NHA's HUD Housing Counseling program. All potential candidates must be first-time home buyers and meet specific requirements. Once sold, NHA will evaluate the feasibility of continuing similar projects in the future.
