NHA Launches Information Hub for Redistricting Initiatives
The Neighborhood House Association (NHA) is helping San Diegans access information about redistricting at the state, county and city level. NHA has created a hub on its Website where citizens can learn about redistricting at all three levels and find out ways they can get involved and have their voice heard.
Additionally, NHA Board Member Lilbert "Gil" R. Ontai has been appointed as one of 14 individuals to the State of California’s first Citizens Redistricting Commission. Ontai is the only San Diego resident, selected out of an initial state wide pool of over 24,000 candidates to receive this honor. Ontai is an award-winning architect whom has served on NHA’s board of directors for nearly four years.
"Redistricting is a once-a-decade opportunity for all citizens, regardless of income, ethnicity, background, religion or creed, to have their voice heard and help decide the direction their community will move in throughout the next 10 years," said Ontai.
NHA Redistricting Website has links to government pages where people can stay up-to-date on the latest redistricting news, as well as monthly calendars where they can find out where and when public meetings are occurring that will affect the outcome of the new district maps.
