Dwight D. Smith, Esq.
Executive Vice President and General Counsel

Dwight Smith, a corporate and transactional attorney, has more than 25 years experience serving as legal counsel for major financial institutions, technology companies and nonprofit organizations in California and Illinois. Mr. Smith joined the Neighborhood House Association in 2006 as Vice President and General Counsel. He has primary responsibility for the organization's overall legal affairs and advises the Board of Directors and senior management on a wide range of legal matters related to business relationships and litigation management, as well as operational and strategic issues. Dwight also manages the contracts administration and corporate governance functions.

Mr. Smith began his career as a tax associate with Arthur Andersen & Co., based in Chicago. Later he joined the American Medical Association law department, where he focused on nonprofit tax matters and corporate sponsorship programs. After relocating to California, Dwight focused his practice on contract drafting, mergers & acquisitions and SEC reporting for technology and financial services companies. Immediately prior to joining NHA, Dwight served as associate general counsel for the San Diego Convention Center Corporation.

Mr. Smith holds a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Notre Dame Law School and a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from DePaul University. He is a member of the California and Illinois Bar Associations, a member of the National Bar Association and a member of the Association of Corporate Counsel. Dwight has been an active supporter of charter schools in California and has served as an advisor to the Museum School and board member of Cortez Hill Academy High School, both located in San Diego.
